OptionSource Position Pane Update Settings

Position lines in an OptionSource Position Pane can be set to update in a variety of way.  Each line can be updated in a different way allowing the most realistic valuation of an option position.  The setting in the Update column determines how the ($)Value, ($)P/L, ImpVol, ($)Delta, Gamma, ($)Theta, ($)Vega, and Rho columns are updated and calculated.

 

There are two methods to change Update settings:

 

1.) Enter the first letter of the setting name in the desired cell:

To change to Market, enter "ma".

 

 

 

At left, "ma" has been entered to change the Update setting to "Market".

 

At right, upon pressing Enter, the setting is changed:

 

 

2.) Use the context menu (right-click on either an individual Update column cell or the Update column heading):

 

 

 

There are 12 Update settings:

 

Setting

Sets the Value column to ...

Last

the  Last traded price.

OldSet

the settlement price from the previous session.

New Settle

the settlement price from today's session.

Recent

the Last traded price if the instrument has traded; if no Last is available, then OldSet is used.

Bid

the current Bid price.

Ask

the current Ask price.

Mid Point

the average of the High price and the Low price.

Market

the average of the Bid and Ask ; If Bid is blank, Market = Ask ; If Ask is blank, Market = Bid ; If Bid & Ask are blank, Market = Recent

TheoreticalPrice

a theoretical option premium calculated based on the settings under the Workstation main menu item Preferences | Edit Default Model Parameters.  If the entire Update column is changed to TheoreticalPrice, the position lines for the underlying contract are set to "Recent".

User Defined

any value that you choose; the Value column becomes available for direct edit.

ImpVol

a theoretical option premium calculated on the volatility level in the ImpVol column; the ImpVol column becomes available for direct edit.  If the entire Update column is changed to ImpVol, the position lines for the underlying contract are set to "Recent".

OldSetIV

a theoretical option premium calculated on OldSetIV.  If the entire Update column is changed to OldSetIV, the position lines for the underlying contract are set to "Recent".
