Study Overlays is the ability to do a study on a study.
This is done by a Right-Click to the Study you want to use as your Input, then select Studies.
Example of a MACD Indicator based on the Moving Average, as opposed to the Last Price.
Only Studies that are shown in black will be allowed against the original study. Choices will vary based on choice of original study.
