Chart Markers can be activated to indicate a variety of milestones -52-week high, low, earnings announcements, dividends and splits will display on the date they occurred. The Markers pulldown button is towards the center right of the toolbar.
The settings are accessible from Chart Display Properties Window | Data Info
Default Text Color and Background Color can all be specified here as well as whether to Show the Markers or Show Markers on Overlays.
