FutureSource Workstation allows you to enter studies onto quote boards, quote grids, and data tables. This allows you to monitor study values along with contract values on a quote, eliminating the need to have a chart open at the same time.
There are two ways you can add a study to a quote:
drag and drop the study from a chart to the quote
enter the study syntax directly onto the quote
Before entering a study on a quote, you need to understand some basic concepts about studies.
Any study entered onto a quote board must follow specific syntax guidelines.
When entering studies onto a quote or data table, there are specific rules that must also be adhered to.
When viewed on a chart, some studies have only one plot line. Others have multiple plot lines. Entry of a study with multiple plot lines will require you to add syntax to define the function parameters for each plot.
Certain studies may NOT be displayed on a quote or data table, or used in expressions.
All studies have input parameters. When displaying a study on a quote, you may use the default parameters or you may override the default parameters and enter your own.
You may create more complex expressions for entry on a quote by combining functions, operators and mathematical expressions.
Adding a study to a Data Table is somewhat different than entering the study on a quote.
Here is a suggested course of action if you wish to learn about adding a study to a quote:
Learn to identify the function names given to studies, and the plot names given to multiple-plot studies.
Learn about study syntax.
Start by dragging and dropping a study from a chart to a quote board.
Review the rules for entering studies directly on a quote.
Learn how to enter the study syntax directly to the quote, and how to formulate expressions.
Learn more about multiple-plot studies, and how you can change the InputField and study parameters for each plot name.
Read about Volume and Open Interest, and how these studies differ from the rest.
